Hinch Mountain, Crossville Tennessee

Hinch Mountain is the highest point (3,054 ft) in the county that I live in (Cumberland) and it's quite a climb.  The 6 mile long, rough gravel road crosses Brady Mountain, then drops into Hicks Gap and then climbs up Hinch Mountain.  Quite often the mountain is in fog so you don't get to see much.  But, on the clear days you can see the radar towers on the top, and see some nice views.

the gravel mountain road.

the summit is always colder, so we add the layers for the ride down (me and Ward)

on the way down.
Hinch Mountain is located off Tennessee Highway 127, east of Crossville.

    1. hi Mountan photographer- sorry- the message went into the spam file, which I didnt event realize there was-
from Crossville go south towards Pikeville on Hwy 127, Turn Left on to Turner Road (not always a sign here) before Warner Herbs). turn right on old TN 28 - no sign here, this is a paved road it goes down and crosses a creek that at one time had a mill located there- continue on - the gravel road will be on the left (no signs, but usually ruts and vehicle tracks from folks parking here) there are a few other gravel roads going up the mtns there- all fun to explore- one actually goes over and connects to a paved road that goes toward Spring City. Have fun- its beautiful especially in the winter!
